Growing up, I went through many stages in my life. Physically yes, emotionally sure, but in this instance I am referring to my style. Each phase of my style can be perfectly defined too. Cute tot, preppy adolescent, Limited Too, tomboy, Hollister, emo band tees and skinny jeans with burgundy hair and a severe “comb over” bang. I could make the list twice as long but I think you get the point.
What is funny now, however, is how it has kind of come full circle (minus a few of those, thankfully). But as of current, I tap into so many different styles, I don’t know that I would be able to describe my style as one specific type. And I have to say, I kind of like it.
For this particular look, I was definitely feeling the bohemian/gypsy vibe that I love so much. I love the simplicity in the silhouettes and the flowy-airiness of the fabrics. There is something so romantic about it. Problem being, we are still at the tail end of winter. So, I thought it would be the perfect time to dive into my ever changing aesthetics and combine some vibes.
I “built” by bohemian base with this yummy floral maxi and my western-esque booties. I, of course, also through on my statement faux septum ring to really bring the look home. To throw in a twist, and some warmth, I draped my very tailored contrast trench jacket. By gently placing it on my shoulders, it compliments the “free spirit” bohemian look rather than covering it up or taking away from it.
If you are no where near wearing a septum ring, real or fake, keep the same feel by rocking some bangles or stacking a bunch of rings and necklaces. You could also swap the jacket for an oversized sweater or a more loose fitting coat/jacket.
Mix it up. Be your own unique self. and stop being a hag.
